Monday Reset

Monday is my favorite day of the week. First, because I insist on having both Sunday and Monday off to take time for myself, get caught up, and spend time with family. Second, and most importantly, because it is my official "reset" day. I take time to check in with myself mentally and decide what gets done this week. The top three things I decide on Monday include any social plans, the budget for the week, and any goals I have for myself (such as fitness or creative projects). This is why I love my planner and my Mondays.

Mondays are my day to decide everything that's going to get done during the week, with some exceptions for last-minute plans with friends (you never know when there's going to be an emergency coffee meeting). I'm a big fan of the time-blocking method of time management. It has been the most helpful strategy for effectively managing my time while also making unpleasant tasks more enjoyable. If I know the one task I absolutely hate (i.e., checking my bills, because let's face it—who actually likes to see those balances?) takes only 20 minutes to do a quick check-in and write down the amounts and due dates, it doesn't feel so bad. In fact, it goes by quicker, and when I'm done, I get to enjoy that dopamine rush by checking it off my to-do list. For the record, I love planning my budget, but I hate planning my bills. So I take Mondays to get 'er done and get it off my plate. Once it's in my planner, I have a physical representation of when I need to pay it or when it's coming out on auto-pay. And 20 minutes to do the one thing I hate for the week? Not bad at all!

Mondays also give me the opportunity to plan other things, such as blog posts, new trackers and planners, creative projects, and, above all, to do the quintessential "Sunday Reset." I do that on Monday; I take Sunday to have fun, go to family dinners, or sneak out to go fishing (I am absolutely shameless when it comes to my personal time). Mondays, on the other hand, I do a deep-clean of my entire house. Taking a day to just plan, clean, and schedule the week feels like the ultimate reset and refresh. I try to do a little reset each day with typical tasks such as making the bed, doing the dishes and clearing up the kitchen counters. But nothing beats the full Monday reset.

If you're looking for a way to reset your week why not go to my shop and download the Weekly Budget Planner? It'll give you a chance to get ahead of the week by taking time to fill out exactly what bills and income are coming in that week. If that doesn't work for you, not to worry, there are plenty of other options such as the Bi-Weekly Budget Planner that accounts for individuals who get paid bi-weekly. Make time for you, taking time to reset your priorities and get a fresh perspective before the week kicks off will completely revolutionize you view of your life. So what are you waiting for? Let's plan to take this week by force and make it the least stressful week of the year yet!

Here's a link to both of the planners I mentioned. Happy planning!
